Puppy Pounce and First Hike

The Professor went on his first off-leash outdoor hike yesterday. I unfortunately forgot my camera but we will definitely be going again. Aunt Sarah found this great place called Stevenson Bridge. Its a deep ravine with Putah Creek at the bottom so its too steep to escape easily and there lots of interesting stuff down there (especially if you ignore the "No Trespassing" and "Beware of Dog" Signs). First the Professor found a rabbit leg with foot still attached that he carried around until we could get it away, so proud of his lucky jack rabbit foot. I am thrilled to report we have a fearless water dog on our hands. He went straight into the freezing cold creek and splashed around. Remember those signs we ignored earlier? Well thats when we met the guard dog. Sarah and both had our shoes off and were in the creek with the Professor when we heard the constant barking of the creek guard. When he started coming down the banks towards us Sarah attempted to distract him but puppies are just too interesting. He was growling and barking and had a scary snarl on his face and that's when I remembered that we had brought hotdogs. I tossed the scary dog and handfull of hotdog bits and the professor and I escaped around the back while the creek guardian went crazy for hotdogs. It was a daring escape! Later Aunt Sarah showed her true devotion to the Professor by chasing him down and diving for him as he ran back towards the scary dog. Apparently even aggressive dogs seem like they should want to play with the Professor.
